Hi, I'm Selena—the heart behind Selena Stoney Photography, a Charleston, South Carolina photographer specializing in newborn, maternity, milestone, heirloom, family, and senior portraits. I'm also a proud mom to three amazing little humans, a wife, a coffee lover, and a lifelong Harry Potter fan. I've called Charleston home for more than half of my life, and while I absolutely love the Lowcountry, I think we could all agree we'd be just fine without the humidity and mosquitoes!

I'm a proud graduate of the College of Charleston (Go Cougars!), where I earned degrees in English and Psychology. Those two passions probably explain why I'm equally obsessed with storytelling and true crime podcasts. If you have a favorite case, we'll probably end up talking about it during your session!

For more than 15 years, I've had the privilege of photographing families throughout Charleston and the surrounding Lowcountry. What began with newborn portraits has grown into something incredibly special. Today, I often photograph babies whose parents first trusted me years ago, and some of my very first newborn clients are now graduating high school. Being invited back to document each new chapter—from maternity and newborn portraits to milestones, cake smashes, family sessions, heirloom portraits, and senior portraits—is one of the greatest honors of my career.

My greatest passion is preserving the milestones that tell your family's story. Whether it's a custom, posed newborn session in my West Ashley studio, a relaxed lifestyle newborn session in your home, a glowing maternity session, timeless heirloom children's portraits, a Grow With Me milestone collection, a first birthday cake smash, annual family portraits, or celebrating your senior's biggest accomplishment, my goal is always the same: to create beautiful artwork that you'll treasure for generations.

My private home studio in West Ashley has been thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable, welcoming experience for every family. I love including parents and siblings in newborn sessions because those first family portraits quickly become some of the most cherished images you'll ever own. Every studio session is customized to reflect your family's style, whether you're drawn to timeless, classic portraits or creative themed setups inspired by Harry Potter, Disney, Star Wars, sports, or something uniquely your own.

For families who prefer a more natural approach, I also offer outdoor family sessions throughout Charleston, Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, and the surrounding Lowcountry, along with in-home lifestyle newborn sessions that beautifully capture the love and connection of your growing family in the place where your story begins.

Photography has always meant more to me than taking beautiful pictures. It's about preserving the tiny details that disappear far too quickly, celebrating life's biggest milestones, and creating heirloom artwork that will be cherished not only by you, but by your children and grandchildren one day.
